M.2 NVMe SSD Adapter for MacBook Pro 13 A1708 2016 2017

Precision M.2 NVMe SSD Converter Adapter for MacBook Pro A1708 (2016-2017)

The M.2 NVMe SSD to MacBook Pro A1708 Adapter Card is a targeted hardware upgrade solution engineered for IT repair shops, Mac refurbishers, and DIY users looking to expand storage on 13-inch Non-Touch Bar MacBook Pro laptops. This adapter converts cost-effective, standard M.2 NVMe PCIe solid-state drives into Apple's custom proprietary SSD interface used exclusively in 2016 and 2017 A1708 models.

Key Specifications & Benefits

• Targeted A1708 Laptop Compatibility: Engineered specifically for 13-inch MacBook Pro Non-Touch Bar models: MacBookPro13,1 (Late 2016 EMC 2978 MLL42LL/A) and MacBookPro14,1 (Mid 2017 EMC 3164 MPXQ2LL/A).
• Supported Form Factors: Fits Key-M M.2 NVMe PCIe SSDs in 2230 and 2242 length form factors (e.g., Sabrent Rocket 2230, Western Digital SN530 2230/2242).
• Unthrottled PCIe Performance: Delivers direct pass-through NVMe speeds for fast boot times, rapid file indexing, and smooth application handling.
• Cost-Effective Storage Expansion: Replaces hard-to-find and expensive proprietary OEM Apple solid-state drives with standard off-the-shelf M.2 NVMe storage.
• Driverless Plug-and-Play Assembly: OS-transparent operation ensures instant hardware recognition under modern macOS installations.

Important Technical Requirements & Compatibility Notes

• 2230 / 2242 NVMe PCIe Only: Supports M.2 NVMe Key-M SSDs in 2230 and 2242 sizes only. Does NOT support M.2 SATA/NGFF protocol SSDs or standard 2280 length SSDs due to physical housing thickness constraints.
• macOS Firmware Requirement: Must be used with macOS 10.14 Mojave, 10.15 Catalina, or newer. Systems lower than version 10.14 lack built-in NVMe drivers for third-party drives. A bootable macOS USB installer is required for initial drive formatting and OS installation.
